Transformative justice offers the skills and to respond non-punitively to conflict and harm. What do you need to learn about transformative justice to meet this moment for your community?
This political moment calls for us to engage in deep learning and reflection on how we get free together. We're inviting you to take an 8-week self-guided journey through Spring Up's curated resource library on transformative justice.
What's Included?
Enrolling in this course grants you lifetime access to:

- Eight (8) recorded grounding exercises to kick off learning each week and integrate into your own TJ practices
- Over ten (10) essays and videos featuring voices from Spring Up's member-owners

- Reflections on transformative justice from over 20 bluelight academy alumni
After hearing from community members about the need for an accessible archive of Transformative Justice skills and practices, we've compiled some of those voices and insights (including our own!) into an extensive self-guided toolkit that is more financially accessible than some of our cohorts and daylong retreats. Practicing transformative justice requires us to intentionally engage with the lineage of TJ practitioners and scholar-organizers who are doing this work every day in their communities. Through our longstanding relationships and our own extensive experience as TJ practitioners, we have lovingly curated this toolkit with lots of discernment and intentionality. There are resources here for folks at all levels of familiarity with Transformative Justice philosophies and practices.
TJ Isn't a framework; it's a practice. Let's build yours.
This is for you if:
- You're looking for a "starter pack" of readings, podcasts, and videos to start your TJ learning journey
- You have been practicing TJ and want to connect directly with lineages and narratives from other TJ practitioners
- You have been doing conflict work and want to integrate TJ values and tools
- You have been reading the theory or connecting with the learnings of TJ online and want access to more materials to supplement your self-study
- You are an academic or consultant curious to find ways to be inspired by TJ frameworks and explore more of what it means that TJ is not something that can be done in a workplace
- You are looking for a space that allows you to be in an accountable relationship with transformative justice lineages, particularly around what should and shouldn’t be called TJ within the work that you’re doing
- You are someone doing community building and/or conflict + care roles within member-based organizations
- You are an organizer responsible for growing organizations with volunteer membership that are navigating conflict, harm, and dual relationships in community
- You are involved in mutual aid or community advocacy and are looking for ways to bring TJ into that practice in a way that feels right-sized
- You are curious about what community accountability processes can achieve and where they are limited
- You work in anti- violence/sexual violence/domestic violence work and have been hearing more about restorative justice, transformative justice and non-punitive frameworks in response to violence that sound cool in the abstract but you are curious about what it looks like to practice in a way that’s survivor-centered and grounded in consent
- You have been hearing people advocate for transformative justice or non-punitive response to harm but it sounds scary and you want more case studies to build your confidence in talking about it with people in your community or recipients of your services or programs
